Celtics' 4th Q Defense TERRIBLE in Game 2
This is actually the first Celtics game I've watched all year, since the opener vs. the Wizards --
due to the bizarre scheduling ideas of ESPN Asia, which NEVER shows the Celtics OR, even stranger, the World Champion Boston Red Sox ... :-O ... --
and it's only because of a quirk that I'm able to watch the 4th quarter of Game 2 vs. the Pistons ...
That said, I must say I am genuinely SHOCKED at the AWFUL defense the Celtics have played while behind the entire 4th quarter ...
The Pistons are able to penetrate easily, getting all the easy shots they want, which is bad enough ...
But even worse, the Celtics are NOT blocking out, and, consequently, the Pistons are getting almost EVERY offensive rebound ...
especially the LONG rebounds ... consistently ... and THAT is incredibly disturbing ...
They are simply not where they should be defensively, and the Pistons are taking proper advantage of it, as they should ...
It's great to actually SEE the game, instead of just reading about it afterwards, because you can really see how it's all going down ...
As in the play the Pistons just scored off their inbounds pass with 18 seconds and 3 on the shot clock ... awful ...
While it's nice to see Ray Allen get off the schneid, as Boomer Berman would say, the Cs also look slow and tentative in their offense, too much standing around, not enough ball movement ...
So far, the Home Court Advantage has saved the Celtics' asses ...
but if they don't play better with a better defensive and offensive rhythm than this,
they are NEVER going to win a game in Detroit, and this will be a SECOND Boston team in a row that ends up failing -- shockingly -- in the post-season ...
It's not over yet for the Celtics with this loss, but they definitely do NOT look good ...
And, as ALWAYS, in basketball, the key is making the stops on defense,
which has been the Celtics' stock-in-trade all year,
but where they have visibly and disturbingly failed, at least in this crucial Game 2 at home ...
